FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIOns

Does it Hurt?

I enjoy a reputation for being extremely gentle. Acupuncture needles are incredibly small by nature (you can fit around 40 of them inside the opening of an average hypodermic needle) and are barely felt by most patients.

How long until I see results?

Most patients experience immediate results, or at least by the third treatment..  Some particularly “sticky” or chronic issues require more of a long term approach and may need weeks or months to resolve.  Typically, I see the best results when patients commit to twice weekly treatments initially, until progress becomes consistent, then we can begin to stagger appointments to twice monthly or seasonally as needed.  It is always my goal to equip you with the tools you need (diet, supplementation, exercise and yoga) to maintain your own health without a dependence on me.

Why choose Chinese Medicine over Western Medicine:

While Western Medicine is invaluable for it’s diagnostic, surgical and acute care contributions for major life-saving medications and procedures, Chinese medicine is a better choice for those suffering from more chronic health issues like stress, anxiety, pain, digestion, insomnia, menstrual issues, low libido, fatigue and more.  Rather than putting a band-aid on your symptoms, Chinese Medicine treats the root cause of your health issues naturally and without side-effects, providing you with the dietary and lifestyle tools you need to maintain your own wellness. People love Acupuncture, as everyone needs a little chocolate for the heart.

What can I expect at an appointment?:

You can expect to be warmly greeted and encouraged to share as much of your story with me as you wish, I’ll combine this information with the clues I gather from examining your tongue and pulse to form a TCM diagnosis and plan.  Your treatment will involve heated sheets and blankets (if desired) oil massage, gentle needling, guided meditation with essential oils and you’ll be invited to nap for a few minutes with the soothing sounds of music in the background.  Your visit could also include any number of adjunct therapies including: Traumeel injections, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, tui na, yoga therapy, or dietary and herbal medicine suggestions. Prepare to leave feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated.
